1. Skullcap– Skullcap calms the nervous system and is an anxiolytic, helping to relieve stress and any anxious conditions.
2. Valerian Root- Valerian Root works by increasing GABA, a calming neurotransmitter, in the brain. It helps to naturally relax the nerves.
3. RhodiolaRosea Root- RhodiolaRosea is a Traditional Chinese Medicine herb touted to promote physical/cognitive vitality. It appears to be proven for reducing fatigue and exhaustion in prolonged stressful situations. Rhodiola is also neuroprotective and promotes longevity in preliminary evidence.
4. Gotu Kola- Gotu Kola has an anti-anxiety effect in acutely and chronically stressed animals. In human studies, it increased calmness and alertness by 100% and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression by 50%.
5. Passion Flower Leaf- Passion flower decreases anxious symptoms, decreases symptoms of narcotic withdrawal and improves generalized anxiety disorder.
6. Ashwagandha- Ashwagandha is a Dr. Jess favorite. This root has been used in ancient cultures for centuries and is also a herbal adaptogen. It is wonderful at easing stress, thyroid conditions, and adrenal fatigue, which is important in balancing sex hormones like estrogen progesterone and testosterone.
7. Cordyceps Mushroom- Cordyceps is an antioxidant and has anti-tumor properties, but can also dilate blood vessels and bring greater blood flow during stressful times.
8. Magnesium Glycerinate- This form of magnesium was chosen as it is the most absorbable. Up to 80% of adults are deficient in this anti-anxiety, calming and very necessary mineral.
